Minutes Jan17 2007 Called to order at 9:03 Attending: Mike, Don, Ashley, Martha F, Dick Pitcher, Greg Urda, Tom, Sally Vukasovich, Old business: Music Director for 2007-8 season. The board appreciates (cherishes) Donald Parrish's excellent service to this orchestra and requests that he continue as Music Director. The 2006 Competition: (concert date - May20) (May 2, 9, 16, - rehearsals reserved for soloist) Area to include 20 mile radius from Dexter: Saline, Ypsi. Whirmore Lk, AA, Chelsea, others TBD. Middle schools through High School. Applications will include vital statistics plus who is teacher, what piece to present, how long, orchestra accmpnmt?, recording - tape, CD, E-aud. Deadline will be Feb. 23, 2007 Martha Froseth will provide an application form from Plymouth and Ashley will do the same (Ypsi) for comparison. MB will compile the list of public and private schools in the afore mentioned 20 mile radius to which notices will be sent. Judges will be Don and (2) orchestra members. Depending on the chosen soloists, the orchestra members should represent the winners. Auditions will be held March 10: Depending on the winners of the competition, orchestral parts will be ordered by the librarians asap. (the following week) Please, let,s review this m New/old business March 11th concert: 3PM Recording David Shall $160 Flowers Tom Posters Sandy Newspapers - ask Erika Nelson Radio Stations - Dick Advertising for the program: Marolin (please donate past programs if you can put your hands on any. I am missing all but the first concert we presented.) I need these for the files. Also need copy of what we hand to prospective advertisers. Orchestra roster for Ashley - Dick and Don (2/21 deadline) Donations - Ashley will take care of the open cello cases. New Business: June concert (Chamber of Commerce and DCO collaboration) is hoped for. June15? We have budgeted the $400 for amplification. DCO logo WOW, Ashley's Mom (Edris Daughtry) is working on a logo for us. It is cool. (Do we want to open this up to a school competition?) Discussion: Tom brought to the board's attention his experience in Australia where an orchestra devoted time to reading (on a regular basis) accompaniments for area "would be or could be ) soloists.
